The spirit of Maserati
Ask yourself another question: "Where I am?" This will help you realize what a transition from one quadrant to another will mean. This is not just about various types of business, but about attitudes towards life.
After all, business varieties are only an external form. If you put the groom behind the wheel of a Maserati, he will not become a race car driver. This requires skills, training and, most importantly, an appropriate style of thinking.
The same applies to the financial sector. You need to learn the mindset of an entrepreneur. The main thing in it is that the entrepreneur is a self-sufficient person. He works for himself, and he has nothing and no one to complain about except himself.
One of the most attractive aspects of the 21st century business is that all the preparatory work for it has already been done.
Of course, this does not mean that you have to do everything yourself from scratch, as I did in my time. Not at all. One of the most attractive sides 21st century business lies in the fact that all the preparatory work for him has already been done. You need only experienced mentors who will guide your actions.
However, do not be mistaken: the decision ultimately belongs to you, and it is you who will implement it. To do this, you need to have an entrepreneur's way of thinking. If you don’t have one, then no matter how promising your business is and whatever teachers give you recommendations, do not expect a good result.
The business model that we will consider in the second part of the book is a powerful and fast “maserati”, but you still have to drive yourself. After all, in the end, everything will depend on you. Are you ready to take control? Do you have everything you need for this?
BEGIN TO MANAGE YOUR LIFE
In 1985, my wife Kim and I were homeless. We had no work, and almost nothing was left of savings. The credit cards were empty, and we lived in an old brown Toyota with folding seats that served us as sleeping places. Having lived this way for a week, we began to wonder who we are, what we are doing, and in what direction to move on.
Seeing our hopeless situation, one friend offered us a room in her basement. Friends and relatives constantly asked the same question: “Why don't you get a job?” At first we tried to explain something, but it’s very difficult to talk about this with people who value a reliable workplace the most.
From time to time we undertook some kind of casual work, but only in order to earn some money for food and refueling the car.
I must admit that sometimes we were overwhelmed by serious doubts, and the idea of getting a job with a regular salary began to seem very attractive. But, since a reliable workplace was not one of our ideals, we continued to move towards our goal, every day at the edge of the financial abyss. We knew that it would be quite easy for us to find a good job. We both graduated from college, had good knowledge and were ready to work hard, but this prospect did not appeal to us. We sought financial freedom.
In 1989, we were already millionaires.
I often hear: "To make money you need money." All this is bullshit! In four years, we went from homeless poor to millionaires, and then it took us another five years to gain genuine financial freedom, and all this was done without money. At the very beginning of the journey, we did not have absolutely no means. Moreover, we were head over heels in debt.
Formal education does not matter much either. College is important for those who choose a traditional profession, and not for those who want to get rich.
But if neither money nor education is needed to gain financial freedom, then what is needed? A dream, a great determination, a willingness to learn quickly and a clear understanding of which sector of the cash flow quadrant you intend to act in.
